Some Personal Thoughts of Saving

Weather: Sunny
Level of Happiness: 76%

When we talk about the word ‘saving’, everyone is having their own interpretation. Some of them consider ‘saving’ as occasionally depositing certain amount of money into the bank, some people interpret it as reducing the extra expenses when there is a need and get prepared for the luxury gadgets in a few months time. Yes, that’s what the saving means! However, if you are the person who falls in the above categories, your saving amount will be limited and I believe nowadays, most of the youngsters came from the above categories.

I have the sense of concern in business, particularly in investment, but low-risk investment. Throughout the few months of holiday, apart from working for freelance part-time job, I have been spending so much of time to understand about financial planning. A good financial planning will bring you a comfortable lifestyle in the future, with the theory from the usual form of speaking ‘money earns money’. If someone is working with the salary higher than you, but without doing a proper financial planning, I’m sure that you will be having an equal or better financial status with the person in the future if you did the financial planning during your young age.

There are plenty of investment schemes in the market nowadays. There are some investments that produce regular income flow without capital gain, eg. Fixed Deposit. There are some that produces no regular income flow but capital gain, eg.Commodities. Bear in mind that, saving in the bank for long term is not called ‘saving’, but wasting your money, must well u donate your money for charity now. Why I said so? Spent some time to google for the term ‘inflation’. I’m sure that you will get what I mean.

Some of the reasons that people resist to involve in long-term saving/investment:
1) Not the time yet? So, when is the right timing? 1-year later, 5-year later or 10 years later? Saving during young age is having greater advantages compared to older age as the person is having higher risk-tolerance. Believe it or not? Age plays an important role. Take an example, Mr.A starts to save RM100/month when he was 20 years old. After 20 years, he is having the total saving amount of RM52,638 (says 7% interest). Now, lets see another person, called Mr.B, who started to save money only when he was 30, but with the amount doubled compared to Mr.A, says RM200/month. When both of them are 40-years, Mr.B is having only RM35,481. Why the difference is so huge? Try to figure out by your own.

2) No money to save? It doesn’t care how much you save, but how much you save determine how much you get. Saving does not require you to allocate all of your money and keep for your future, but less than 10% of the amount that you are earning. Is that hard?

Too much of them to mention…. I’ve to stop now. Please share the info with friends if you found them useful & alert me with you don't agree with me.

Stay tune for the next post. Have a nice day^^

City of Entertainment

Weather: Sunny
Level of Happiness: 76%

It was a very very long time since my last post. I would like to tell more about my Genting trip two weeks ago. My last day in KL should be 17 Feb, Thursday, the day I attended the Intel interview. It was a nice interview chatting with the manager from Intel although I have to face with some tricky technical questions. I’m glad that I was not interviewed by the HR staff as most of the killing questions will come from them and usually the engineering manager will not be so particular.

After the interview, I went up to Genting to meet my family. The first 3 days we were staying in 1st world and the last day we switched to Resort Hotel. All of the rooms are free as they were redeemed using world points. I took the opportunity to apply a World Card for myself and throughout the two days in casino, I have earned 3.79 points from there & I have entitled for a free room.^^

How about the experience staying at Genting for 4 days? It doesn’t really sound nice as I spent most of my time in casino, looking on why the people like to Genting so much. One of the games that attracted me is Caribbean Stud Poker. Next time you may want to try your luck in that game as it provides an opportunity for you to win a jackpot what worth around RM900k! sounds good?

One thing that I dislike the most is there are smokers in every corner. Even I went to the non-smoking zone in casino, I still have to pass by all the smoking area and inhale lots of 2nd-hand smoke! I’m glad that I didn’t take up the job as the slot technician offered to me, or else I can’t imagine how many years my life will be shortened!

I like the place that I stayed during the last day, Resort Hotel. It is near the old casino where most of the people prefer to go. Besides, it is more peaceful compared to 1st-world hotel. At night, I will spend my time by surfing internet at the lobby. Basically that was how I spent my 5 days in the city of entertainment. Bye~~

(I like the toilet the most & I was wondering what is the use of the phone beside the toilet bowl)

The 60D with my Nice B'day and X'mas Celebration

Weather: Sunny
Level of Happiness: 80%

I’m sorry that I promised to make another update in the last post as I have been busy throughout the time. Please don’t feel that I was so enjoyable in the past as I have posted so many photos in fb. That was a kind of relaxing activities after a boring weekend and I must say that I can’t stay in the house for two days in the weekend even how busy was me.

Talking about camera, it is almost 20 days since I bought my 60D with only a normal lens. However, throughout the experience in photo shooting, I proud to say that I did not make a wrong choice!! I don’t see any need to buy a lens that enables me to zoom far away. Perhaps my skill is not to that level yet :P

I felt contented for having so much of nice photos during my b’day celebration with all my relatives and all my dear friends. I was hesitating in the past whether not to spend such a big amount of money to invest for a good camera as I can have both normal digital camera and new smart phone at the same time. However, personally, I think that nothing is more important than your ability to capture every past wonderful experience in your life. Perhaps after 20 years, when you are able to retrieve all the nice memories from your photos while others can’t, RM3.4k of investment is nothing at all! Nothing is more important than memories! Remember that. ;-)

Yesterday was Christmas Eve and I’m sure that my friends and I were having a great moment in Genting Highland. After attending years of celebration, at gurney, bukit bintang etc, celebrating a x’mas celebration at the highland will be definitely a different experience, especially in such a cool place where you won’t squeeze like sardine and sweat like hell.

The study life in TARC College is going to end soon and I have to make use of this opportunity to capture every moments of life with my 60D (I’m so happy with her ;P). Before I end, merry x’mas to all of you and have a nice day^^

Speak!

Weather: Sunny
Level of Happiness: 73%

9 Nov was the public speaking competition organised by TARC with the collaboration of CIMB bank and I was lucky to be one of the contestants there. When I was heading to DKE, i saw many of the banners hanging around and I knew that the public speaking was not merely a competition, but exhibiting the image of TAR College to the outsiders. Many of the VIPs were there, including the CIMB representative, Head from Ericon language center, Head of School, Head of Division and other VIPs from the college that I haven’t seen before.

When i first stepped into the hall, i saw some of contestants there wearing extremely formal, with a coat and tie. It caused me to feel even more nervous at the moment. Anyway, i kept reminding myself not to be scared by their exteriority.

The public speaking competition took around one hour. Unfortunately, I only managed to get the first runner-up. Thus, the purchase of my DSLR has to be postponed!!! Anyway I’ll appreciate this opportunity given to me and I felt so contented that I had made a right decision. (Actually I didn’t participate at the beginning as I skipped the classes for two times and I was totally unaware about the competition. Thanks to Yee Lin for informing me^^ I decided to contact my tutor in the last minute to participate~)

That’s all for today and the next post will be very soon~

The Torturing Week

Weather: Sunny
Level of Happiness: 78%

I m glad that the most suffering week is finally over. I remember that I don’t even have time to enjoy throughout the whole week as I need to prepare for the test, some tasks assigned by my supervisors, public speaking, assignments, tutorials and revision. I told myself that this semester will be completely different from previous semester that there is no ‘play-play’ for this final semester.

Talk about public speaking, I’m still don’t know the main reasons that forced me to volunteer to participate in such event. This is definitely not my style! Perhaps I want to take the challenge to test my communication skills under strict supervision by all the language experts from the well-known language center. In my deep heart, I actually prefer the presentation in the non-technical subjects but unfortunately, there is no other language subjects in our Adv Dip.

Yesterday, I went to 1-U again with my housemates to ‘import’ some new clothes. To my surprise, he bought a fcuk polo-T which cost >RM100. That will be something uncommon on him that I would like to mention. Moreover, all the shirts bought by him are in white-color!! All of us went back with harvest and I have spent nearly RM100 in one day.

Suddenly I have one place that I’m thinking to go, that is Petro Science located at KLCC that I haven’t been there before. I think it will be a good experience to pay a visit there. Let’s plan for it.

It’s time to go for jogging now and I’ll stop here. Bye~

My ‘H0liday’

Weather: Sunny
Level of Happiness: 78%

Yeah~finally I have the mood to continue to this post here. Just after the exam, we headed to Tao located at Sunway Giza, Damansara for our dinner and also celebrating for our holiday. Basically, the dishes are almost same with the one in Autocity, but one thing different is that there are another corner for tepanyaki and sashimi. As usual, I ordered my favourite dishes, tempura sets, ‘biskut kola’ (direct translation from mandarin…swt), scallops and cheese crab-sticks.

To my surprise, I met C.maine n Noel during the Tao dinner. Yes…I’m really surprise. I still remember on that day 11am, I looked at my watch and suddenly thought that they are finishing their exam and should be going out to celebrate at the moment. It was like a dream~

Yeah~(photo of the year)..*like*^^

My favourite~ *like*

On Friday, Choon poh’s family were coming to KL and I took that opportunity to travel with them. We went to a lot of places, such as KLCC, Batu Caves, Kepong, Taman Layang-layang and Petaling Street. My photography skill was seriously brushed up during the trip as I was the main photographer during the trip. Yeah~Thanks to Poh~
Before going out, we snapped a ‘family’ photo & I like this photo too^^.

Quite short for this time as I’m quite sleepy now..C ya~

The Complicated Feeling

Weather: Sunny
Level of Happiness: 70%

It’s is over…yes..it’s finally over. Two weeks of torture and suffer finally came to the end. During the exam, my life was like hell! Early in the morning have to go to library to study until night, back to home have to continue to do revision till midnight, and the worst is….. when I was having my meal, I would still thinking of the exam, feeling nervous the whole day… The feeling is hardly expressed in words, unless you have really experienced before.

Talking about the exam, the subject that I worry the most is Control System Engineering1, that I can’t find any question that can promise me more than 20 marks, every easy question was paired with a hard question and causing me to choose the WRONG question!!! After I came out from the exam hall then only I regret that I didn’t choose the question properly. That was the biggest and the most stupid MISTAKE that I made in this exam.

Ok..let’s forget about the bad thing. It’s all over and no point to cried over spoilt milk. The happiest moment during the past two weeks was the moment that I handed up the last paper on Saturday. It was the real day of celebrating Merdeka for us compared to 31-August.

Few days after the exam, it seems like most of my friends are going back to hometown. For me, I have to postpone my holiday as I have to work full-time on my FYP. I should feel relax and happy after the exam, but suddenly I feel so lonely here and I hate this feeling!!! I wish that I can progress faster and able to go back Penang soon. I really miss everything in hometown!!!! Gambate Yong!
